Swinton Insurance, the UK’s largest high street insurance broker, is celebrating its 60th anniversary by officially moving into new headquarters which have been designed by TSK.
Designed to create a dynamic and collabortaive environment and enhance customer experience, the new nine storey HQ at Embankment 101 has benefited from a £6m fit-out. Included is a welcoming reception with a variety of relaxed settings, an impressive social space designed to reflect a Victorian park with café, picnic and games zone, an iLab to inspire innovation and a wellbeing and faith area to support the diversity and needs of colleagues.
The designs were created after a six month consultation with colleagues across all levels who were looking for a workspace that would help create a new cultural behaviour. Colleagues requested colourful and light spaces which fused both individual working areas and collaborative breakout zones, varied meeting spaces and recreational rooms.
Justine Thompson, Head of Property, Facilities & Procurement at Swinton insurance, said: “Our new home at 101 Embankment provides a vibrant space, which has been designed to encourage collaboration, engagement and wellbeing of our colleagues. The fit-out offers social areas which are the epicentre of Swinton, as well as a suite of meeting rooms, a conference zone and well-spaced breakout zones to encourage team work.”
The new office building has impressive 360 degree views across Greater Manchester, each floor measures approximately 17,600 sq ft and can accommodate around 200 people.
Andy Burke, Director at TSK Group, said: “People have always been at the very heart of Swinton so it was important we engaged with their people to really understand their views and ensure we created a workspace to support their needs.
“We worked to design a new headquarters that would help shape the culture of the business and move towards a new Swinton, with an environment to motivate and inspire. As well as reflecting this in our designs, we also carefully considered the strong heritage Swinton have built, providing a workspace to take them forward on their next trajectory whilst maintaining the essence and values of the company.”
Centrally positioned on the border between Manchester and Salford, 101 Embankment has been designed in an environmentally friendly way and has an ‘excellent’ sustainability rating by BREEAM (building research establishment environmental assessment method).
