Irwin Mitchell has appointed TSK to design and deliver its new Manchester office at One St Peter’s Square.
The project will transform the 33,000 sq ft floor plate, spread over one and a half floors of the 13-storey landmark building.
One of the UK’s largest law firms, Irwin Mitchell will move into One St Peter’s Square in June 2018, relocating from its current base at Bauhaus on Quay Street.
The new office, which will be home to over 250 members of staff from the firm’s business and personal legal services divisions as well as its debt recovery subsidiary, Ascent, will comprise a variety of spaces designed to facilitate activity-based working, enhance collaboration and in turn drive efficiency and productivity. The space will drive the firm’s commitment to creating an agile working environment with a move towards more digital processes.
TSK will be responsible for the entire project, from workspace planning and design to furniture procurement and assisting with employee engagement from start to finish.
Sarah Ball, Operations Director at Irwin Mitchell said: “it is vitally important that our move to new offices provides an environment which enables our people to deliver client service of the highest quality as well as it offering a great place to work that is future proofed to support our vision.
“TSK knew what we were looking for and placed a focus on human centred design that anchors physical, social and mental wellbeing. The team impressed us with their approach of gaining data led insight from our people to inform the decisions which were made.
“We also want a space which builds on the attributes of the One St Peter’s Square building and the qualities of Manchester’s thriving business district.”
Tim Crane, Account Director of TSK, said: “Irwin Mitchell’s move to One St Peter’s Square is an important milestone for their business, and we look forward to creating an office space that reflects its sense of community within the firm, and its values and aspirations. As a firm that invests heavily in its people, it’s important that the new office extends and cements that commitment - we will be focusing on creating a space that nurtures innovation and is an appealing environment in which to spend time and interact with colleagues.”
This latest appointment comes on the back of recent completed projects in the region including AJ Bell’s 4 Exchange Quay (EQ4) which received global recognition for creating a high-performance headquarters; the new nine storey headquarters at 101 Embankment, completed in 2017 for Swinton and more recently, the new Kellogg’s HQ at MediaCity.
As part of its Knowledge Exchange programme, TSK has recently produced a white paper on the importance of wellness in the workplace, outlining the financial and operational benefit gained by investing in wellness strategies, in which working environment plays a significant role. TSK will seek to employ the principles outlined in the white paper within the design and build of Irwin Mitchell’s St Peter’s Square office, utilising the very latest learning and knowledge to create a workspace that works for everyone.
