What does success look like?

Before designing an amazing new home to support the next stage of BresMed’s journey, we conducted thorough research to truly understand their ambitious plans. Working in partnership with BresMed, we ran interviews, surveys and focus groups to challenge ideas and clearly define what success would look like. Based on the results, we created a strategy that would help us to achieve their three core goals: to enhance their external profile, promote better team working and improve staff facilities and wellbeing.

Reflecting the inside out

The high-levels of success that BresMed was achieving may have been evident internally, but this wasn’t reflected in their external presence. We wanted to ensure that their external reputation matched the profile and accomplishments of the company.

We created an open reception area to meet and greet guests as well as comfortable business lounge facilities and meeting spaces designed to accommodate clients.

While BresMed is a global company, it was important to reflect the essence of Sheffield as its route and base, as well as the fun and dynamic nature of the company. The large, open-plan design allows clients to see the team working together and gives a warm and welcoming first impression.

Teams that work together, succeed together

An office is so much more than just a desk. Successful workplaces encourage people to thrive. By strategically placing departments next to each to create a neighbourhood and building a central café that can accommodate the whole business, the team now have more opportunities to come together.

We created a menu of work settings to support different activity-based working – whether that be focused desk work, creative thinking, collaborative work, private telephone conversations or informal meetings. We also ensured that there were open spaces dedicated to relaxing, unwinding and connecting with other employees.

Enhancing employee satisfaction

Employee health and wellbeing has always been a core focus for BresMed. Though they previously had wellbeing rooms for their employees, they were hidden away and didn’t feel accessible. By placing these treatment areas in more visible areas, it encouraged passing employees to make the most of the facilities.

Integrating technology into every working area meant that teams were able to start collaborating more effectively. Employees are more likely to thrive when they work in a flexible environment that supports various working styles.

Through careful planning and a smart design, we not only stayed within budget, but delivered a workplace that reflects BresMed’s company values, encourages employee wellbeing and supports productive working. The team can work in a variety of settings – independently or collaboratively – resulting in a happier, more productive and fun place to work.
