Furness Building Society’s Head Office has been in Barrow-in-Furness for over 150 years, but for a forward-thinking organisation, the workspace wasn’t reflecting their company ethos. After confirming a move to the town’s iconic Emlyn Hughes House, we worked with Furness to help them transform their business by creating a fantastic new workplace.

A great place to work

Though Furness Building Society was growing organisationally, their workspace needed modernising. We strategically designed and created a workplace that would support employees to deliver excellence.

We utilised the unique character of the building and its interesting spaces to create smarter ways of working, attract new talent from cities further afield and reflect the culture of the organisation. Not only that, but we wanted to design an environment that was suited to its growing and evolving workforce.

We conducted in-depth research to discover what Furness Building Society needed to elevate performance and designed a workspace tailored to their specific needs. By offering flexible solutions and ensuring every item had a purpose, we stayed within budget while reaching the results we set out to achieve.

By creating a menu of tailored workplace settings, it allowed the teams to choose the most appropriate place to most productively suit what they need to work on.
We included a blend of focus to collaborative; individual to team and formal to informal. Introducing a central space where the team could come together also made a huge improvement to team morale and wellbeing within the office.
