At TSK, we believe in building more than just great workplaces, we’re committed to making a positive impact on the communities we work in.
That’s why we’re incredibly proud to be nominated for a Considerate Constructors Award, recognising our dedication to responsible and considerate construction.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a national initiative set up to encourage the construction industry to raise its standards and be a considerate neighbour. It’s designed to ensure that construction sites operate responsibly, respectfully, and with the community, environment, and workforce at heart.
Every registered site is monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, which focuses on three key areas:
It’s a fantastic framework for driving better behaviour, higher standards, and more thoughtful working practices across the industry.
To understand more about TSK’s work with the Considerate Constructor Scheme, we sat down with our CSR Coordinator, Sophie Lynch, to talk about what this nomination means, how we’re making a difference, and what’s next for TSK’s social and environmental initiatives.
Thank you! Honestly, I’m so pleased. We give every project 100%, so it’s great to see our hard work pay off.
At TSK, we always follow the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) code of practice alongside our own CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy and framework to show how we are actively supporting communities. Hopefully, this is just the first of many!
We’ve put a structured CSR framework in place, applying it to every project.
We’re also working hard to build and maintain relationships with charities and environmental groups, which opens up more opportunities to give back to local communities.
A big focus has been getting our delivery teams more involved, and it’s making a massive difference. The more hands-on we are, the greater the impact.
One of our big focuses has been health and well-being. We recently launched a wellness campaign centred on heart health, rolling out health surveillance across both our offices in partnership with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for Heart Month.
This initiative will soon extend to all our sites. We also hosted an insightful BHF lunch & learn session, which was open to all TSK staff, both office and site-based. While this was linked to Heart Month, our commitment to heart health is something we’ll continue to build on.
So far in 2025, we’ve already had some amazing experiences! We volunteered with Whitechapel Mission, helping serve breakfast to people in need. It was non-stop, Carl Nicholson alone cracked 375 eggs!
We had an incredible team, and I’m so grateful to Callum, Gina, Ronnie, Maria, Sam, and Carl for getting involved, even with a 4am start!
We’ve also been working with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), maintaining ponds in Clayton Woods and sprucing up community gardens in Enfield by making planters.
We also teamed up with Bilway Marine Services on a litter boat to clean up the quays. In just over an hour, we filled two wheelie bins with rubbish! It was cold, wet, and windy, but honestly, fantastic. Not many people get to speedboat around the quays as part of their job!
Hopefully, lots more exciting volunteering days, new partnerships with charities, and more opportunities to leave a lasting impact. We’ve got some really exciting legacy projects planned with McDonald’s, and we have recently just achieved a CCS score in the ‘Outstanding’ category for our project with Gilbanks. So, hopefully, there will be more of these to come, ‘Excellent’ is great, but we’re always pushing for more!
Leading CSR at TSK is incredibly rewarding, and there’s so much more I want to achieve. I’m passionate about expanding our reach and making a real difference while continuing to promote TSK and our values.
“The difference we’re making in the community is real, and it’s having such a positive impact.”
