GHD’s story began in Leeds.
In 2001, three entrepreneurs founded the company in Yorkshire; now, the global beauty-tech brand is in more than 30 countries worldwide
To this day, Leeds remains an important location for the organisation. With a fantastic university and enormous tech development in the area, it’s the ideal spot for attracting top talent.
GHD decided to relocate to 11 Wellington Place, a cutting-edge building in its hometown. This new environment was chosen to support the brand’s evolution as a global organisation – accommodating hybrid ways of working, rapid growth and an ambitious sustainability agenda.
After collaborating with GHD to deliver their London office in Soho, we were ready to translate their powerful brand presence to their new location.
GHD wanted the people of Leeds to know they were in town. But how do you do that in a multi-tenant building?
We installed a branded statement light feature in the social space, which can be admired both internally and externally from the street outside Wellington Place.
Throughout this project, we worked closely with GHD’s branding team to ensure every detail, including bold product displays, reflects their global identity.
As a brand that really cares about its people, this workspace transformation was about creating a better experience for every employee, in every job and function.
In the heart of the building is the business lounge – a buzzing social space that offers great coffee and areas to catch up and unwind. Touchdown zones, formal and informal meeting rooms, and flexible areas cater for both collective and individual work.
The new environment is 30% smaller than GHD’s original office, meaning they’ve significantly reduced their carbon footprint. 11 & 12 Wellington Place is the first development outside London to achieve a prestigious NABERS Design Reviewed Target Rating of Five Stars or above, using 41% less energy consumption than the average building. This pioneering building is a fantastic match for GHD, aligned with its commitment to creating a sustainable future.
When you walk into GHD’s new office, you instantly feel part of the brand.
But it’s not just the aesthetics that make this a standout office – it supports hybrid working, collaboration, well-being, creativity, connections and problem-solving. It’s designed with flexibility in mind so it can evolve and adapt as GHD grows, for many years to come.
